Disney’s EVP, Digital & Global Chief Technology Officer, Tilak Mandadi, has posted a fascinating article on LinkedIn this week in regards to a virtual IAAPA presentation. The topic was how “Physical + Digital” experiences are going to be a driving force for present and future guest experiences with Disney Parks. This includes new digital methods of staying in touch and engaging with Disney fans through new digital content during the COVID-19 pandemic, enhanced virtual queue technology used for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, the ability at Walt Disney World Resorts to skip the front desk for digital check-in experiences and more. Looking to the future they want to create a new connected experience, a “Theme Park Metaverse”, that will “transcend the physical and digital barrier” to allow for the possibility of adding new layers of storytelling and interactivity with guests through the use of digital technology both inside and outside of the theme parks.
