With the final closure of A Bug's Land complete, guests to Disney California Adventure were greeted by construction walls blocking the former land off. The walls were decorated with an interesting addition however... the Stark Industries logo was large and in charge, reminding everyone of who the next tenant coming to take up residence will be as work begins on building the first Marvel themed land at a Disney park in America. And where Tony Stark goes... so follows the paparazzi.

Plans... they are always changing, but the latest mega rumor for Universal comes from our friends at ThemeParkUniversity this week who claim that what's left of the Lost Continent at Islands of Adventure could be transformed into a new Zelda themed attraction area. This does make sense and even goes back much further to older rumors Screamscape once had when the whole Super Nintendo World saga first began, with the mainstream Nintendo family of characters expected to go into a land that would replace the kids area at Universal Studios Florida and rumors of a possible Zelda themed area being eyeballed as a future expansion for IOA.
Though at that time the location we had first heard of for it was something that could replace Toon Lagoon. Of course, there were all kinds of rumors about trying to put something new in Toon Lagoon at that time ranging from Zelda to a possible Tolkin / Middle Earth themed concept, as well as a Secret Life of Pets dark ride. That's just the fun part of theme park development... plans upon plans upon plans... and if an idea doesn't work out at the time, the plans are filed away so they can be brought back to life again in a new way if the opportunity presents itself. After all, long-time readers might recall that the Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey ride concept was originally dreamed up to be a Van Helsing themed dark ride... before the movie bombed.
But this does all make sense, with a vast universe of IP properties available to use from Nintendo, it would only make sense that Universal spread them out amongst all their theme parks... including the next one on the horizon. After all, look how that strategy has worked out for them with The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. The biggest problem with this idea though is time... because the main Super Nintendo World themed attraction area will have to open first... either in the Studios or in the new planned park... leaving Zelda as a Phase 2 addition, which means it would likely be another 6-8 years before it gets built. That is a long time for the Sindbad theater to sit empty, so I guess we’ll have to wait and see how this all plays out and if things move around yet again.

According to several reports Spaceship Earth at Epcot closed down over the weekend after a "water leak" was discovered inside the giant sphere. Original reports on social media were claiming it may have been some kind of hydraulic or HVAC coolant leak, but according to the Orlando Sentinel it was just water. The ride was set to be inspected on Monday morning and did reopen for guests that day.

Disney announced that Oga's Cantina is coming to Star Wars: Galaxy Edge as the name of a cantina style watering hole for the Black Spire Outpost, home to pilots, smugglers, bounty hunters... and mixed drinks?! Yes, while this will come as not surprise when it opens inside the Walt Disney World version, this addition to Disneyland will be the first public location in the park to serve adult beverages. (To be fair, Club 33 has been doing so since it was created, but it isn't open to the general public.)
"Visitors come to this notorious local watering hole to unwind, conduct shady business, and maybe even encounter a friend…or a foe. Run by an intriguing alien proprietor, Oga Garra, the cantina adheres to a strict code of conduct that tries to keep its unruly patrons in check. But with a history of being a smugglers’ safe haven and a popular stopping point for those seeking to avoid the authorities, you can bet that the cantina has a story or two to tell.
Oga’s Cantina is the kind of establishment that attracts some of the most interesting and disreputable characters in the galaxy. And you never know when a stormtrooper or a familiar face will show up. Patrons of the cantina come from across the galaxy to sample the famous concoctions created with exotic ingredients using “otherworldly” methods, served in unique vessels. With choices for kids and libations for adults, the cantina will make for a great stop!"
The site is also home to one familiar face in particular... the former StarSpeeder 3000 pilot droid "Captain Rex", otherwise known as RX-24, who has now modified his programming to become the cantina's new DJ.
