The latest updates from BGWFans on the park’s 2021 coaster project shows that they have uncovered what appears to be the layout for the coaster project. According to the description, it seems to be a multi-launch shuttle coaster, where the train will move out of the station onto a launch track, shoot forward up a hill, roll-back through the reverse-launch and up a spike, and then forward again through the launch very fast this time, over the hill and into a couple of turns before shooting up a very tall spike before rolling backwards through the whole layout and back into the station. Based on the documents, they say that it looks as if the coaster may even re-use the old Drachen Fire coaster station.
Sounds like an interesting coaster, but as a follow-up to Pathenon, which also features a multi-launch section, the design choice here is a little odd to me, as it seems a bit too similar to what the park is opening in 2020. More on this as it develops.

A great little promo video showing off the creative proess behind the new Gangsta Granny dark ride coming to Alton Towers was posted to YouTube this week, where riders will go along on a jewel heist with Granny. While I’m not familiar with the book, the concept behind this just cracks me up, as it seems like something that would be right at home within the Despicable Me / Minions universe, even though it is entirely separate.

More details about what we can expect to find in the new Super Nintendo World can be found in the video below where Thierry Coup speaks on stage about the land and shows off the new interactive wristband, called the “PowerUp Band”, they’ve made for it that will work with a mobile device app while in the land to allow guests to interact and play with the land in various ways, such as finding hidden objects and collecting coins. And if you grab a screen capture at just the right time during the music video, we also get our first glimpse at what the four-passenger MarioKart ride vehicles should look like as well.

Chessington has announced that they will open a new Rainforest area in 2020 that will include three rides: Jungle Rangers, River Rafts and Treetop Hoppers. Jungle Rangers is actually an updated version of an existing ride (Toadie’s Crazy Cars), and River Rafts will be a mini-log flume that previously run at SEA LIFE Adventure Park as Crocodile Creek. According to a post at Themeparks-UK the Treetop Hoppers ride is also an existing park attraction. They also report that the park’s Flying Jumbos ride will be relocated to a new area in the park for 2020 and have the name slightly changed to Elmer’s Flying Jumbos to be themed to the children’s book, Elmer the Patchwork Elephant.

TheCoasterKings have posted a new update from SeaWorld Orlando that shows a new work permit filed by the park for a possible 2021 attraction. The permit seems more to be focused on demolition work to take place in the area of the path between Bayside Stadium and SeaFire Grill, along with a project name listed as “SWO Penguin”.
They say the early rumors point to a possible new coaster for the park, possible a B&M Wing Coaster, which is about the only B&M design not found yet anywhere in Florida. That said… I do also have to wonder if the name dropping of “Penguin’ could also be a hint that just perhaps this could be a new B&M Dive Machine like the Emperor coaster under construction at SeaWorld San Diego. If so, this would be the only Dive Machine in Orlando, with Sheikra being the only other one in the state, having opened at Busch Gardens Tampa way back in 2005. Thinking back to the Wing Coaster rumor… Screamscape has heard early rumors that B&M was developing a new train design for the Wing Coasters that would feature seats able to invert by rotating forward and backwards, pretty much in the same fashion as the S&S 4D coasters (like X2 at Six Flags Magic Mountain). Certainly a theoretical B&M 4D coaster would be very notable and gain a lot of attention, especially when placed right at the front of the park. Stay tuned!

Fantasy Island in the UK will open a new flat ride this season to be called Turbulence. The flat ride may look similar to a Mondial Top Scan, but this is actually a Star Shape from Zierer. Other than the section of the ride with the rotating seats that the riders sit in, the similarities to the Top Scan end there, as the motion of the Star Shape actually swings back and forth and loops upside-down along the way, with a ride sequence that has more in common with an Evolution than a Top Scan.
According to ThemeParks-UK the new ride actually ran as Bling at Blackpool Pleasure Beach from 2004 to 2011, and then a Sky Jet at Skyline Park in Germany from 2012 to 2019, before traveling back to the UK.
