Huge news came from the Disneyland Paris Resort on Tuesday as Bob Iger announced a TWO BILLION EURO multi-year expansion plan was being put into effect for the French resort that would heavily see a major expansion and renovation made to the Walt Disney Studios Paris theme park. While the exact plans were not laid out in detail, they did confirm that the expanded Studios park would have three new themed areas added for: Marvel, Frozen and Star Wars, along with the addition of a huge lake at the back of the park. This mega-expansion will "roll out in phases beginning in 2021.
Now lets go over what we think we know based on rumored plans as well as what we can see in the concept art released.
Marvel - The transformation of the Rock 'n Roller Coaster was already confirmed by a previous announcement earlier this month that will give the ride a new Iron Man theme. Looking at the concept art, you can also make out a new circular shaped facade will transform the front entrance of the attraction building as well. It is also clear that this entire area of the park will be given the Marvel treatment, with some kind of new attraction likely to take over the Armageddon special effects attraction space, and you can see an Avenger's QuinJet parked where the entrance to the Lights, Motors, Action stunt show is, which is being replaced by a rather large but non-detailed looking structure in the background, which I can only assume may be similar to the rumored Avengers attraction that is also being planned for Hong Kong Disneyland for 2023.
The Lake - Hard to miss the giant lake now placed in the back of the park, but it is also worth mentioning what isn't here anymore... as there is no trace of the backlot studio tour in the artwork. In the lake you can make out giant fountains shooting water into the sky on the left and right sides, as well as a boat making it's way across the lake. The lake is also surrounded by a large circular pathway that will take guests back to the two other new themed land, but also seems like it would provide a great viewing area for a giant nightime spectacular. Like... the kind of lights, water and projection show that Disney is famous for... but also the kind that was rumored last week as a possibility for the lake near the resort hotels. Good project rumor... wrong location. Seems that rumored new nighttime spectacular was actually for the Studios park, though Disney made zero mention of it in their announcement. All in good time...
Star Wars: Galaxy Edge - Clear to see in the artwork that Paris will be the first international location to get their own version of Star Wars: Galaxy Edge, and with ample space to build into plus the added benefit of extra time, I wouldn't be surprised if a few new innovations and surprises find their way here as well.
Frozen - Disney is still betting big on the idea of building Frozen themed lands. While we have no timeline for the long hinted at Frozen land in Japan, the one announced for Hong Kong Disneyland is expected to open by 2021. Much like Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, this will be a second generation land, where the Imagineers will have had time to review what works and what didn't in the first version and make improvements for this one by the time it is built.
Even more impressive is the fact that we're only talking about what is coming to the Studios park as part of this massive expansion. I'm sure there are some goodies planned for Disneyland Paris as well next door. So nice to see what can happen here now that Disney has taken full ownership of the parks.

According to a Screamscape source, the press release about the Batman: Knight Flight ride opening at Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi did a terrible job explaining this attraction. While they call it a flight simulator, if you look at the artwork they show, it looks to have a lot more in common with Harry Potter for the Forbidden Journey at the Universal theme parks. This is because Batman: Knight Flight will apparently be a next-generation Kuka Arm dark ride creation... and not just another flight simulator, which just really peaked my interest in this particular attraction so much more.

Sounds like Six Flags Fiesta Texas is having some teething problems with their new Wonder Woman coaster, the first ever Raptor coaster from RMC. According to the local news the opening of the coaster has been pushed back again, and wont be ready by mid-March, but instead they are looking to open it sometime later this spring, definately sometime after Spring Break is over. Of course with an all new system like this, some delays are be to expected. I'd also imagine that the delays here could also delay the opening of the ride's mirror-image twin set to open at California's Great America (Cedar Fair).

Disney has announced that they will be celebrating 90 years of Mickey Mouse in a variety of ways through the company in 2018 and 2019. The event list includes everything from a Fashion Show, special Disney on Ice shows, new Mickey Mouse animated shorts on the Disney Channel and more. As for the theme parks, look for them to host a special celebration in honor of Mickey’s 90th on November 18 and kicking off the World’s Biggest Mouse Party from then through 2019. I’m sure the 2019 opening of the Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando will also play into this celebration as well. Follow the link to learn more.

Fitting in with an earlier rumor we were told, the new attractions coming to Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge are both supposed to be utter knock-out attractions in their own way. The story at the time was that Disney Imagineers were pulling out all the stops to really plus these experiences up to be like nothing else we've seen before. Even if it means that might have lower capacity than you might think, which could be a problem given how big the lines are expected to be.
Much like how Universal Orlando opened Diagon Alley a few years ago, it is already expected that you may have to have some kind of pass just to get INTO to Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge land at all. But those attraction lines? The lastest rumors claim almost everyone is going to end up waiting in them, as the two attraction may not open with FastPass at all, but instead may only accept the pay-to-play MaxPass system instead.

Special thanks to RollerCoasterPro who sent in a few pictures of the Orlando StarFlyer construction site taken on Monday as the rider carriage has been lowered into place on the lower tower unit, clearing the way for the rest of the tower pieces to be put on top. Follow the link to find the rest posted to their Facebook page.
If past experience is anything to go by, I'd expect to see the rest of the Orlando StarFlyer's tower go up very quickly at this point, with the crews capping it off before you know it if the weather behaves, all in time to open it this May.

Europa Park has confirmed another new attraction is on the way for the 2018 season, this one themed to a local popular IP. The small kiddie train ride (sorry, the name escapes me) just behind the Euro-Tower is being rethemed as Jim Button: Journey Through Morrowland. The story, inspired by Michael Ende's children's story characters will feature Jim and Luke the Engine Driver when it opens on March 24. The ride features eight small train themed vehicles, each holding four riders, that will be able to billow steam and feature bells than the riders can ring along the 3-minute journey. The timing works out well too, as a live-action 'Jim Button and Luke the Engine Driver' film is being released in Germany at the same time.
