Disney has announced that they will be celebrating 90 years of Mickey Mouse in a variety of ways through the company in 2018 and 2019. The event list includes everything from a Fashion Show, special Disney on Ice shows, new Mickey Mouse animated shorts on the Disney Channel and more. As for the theme parks, look for them to host a special celebration in honor of Mickey’s 90th on November 18 and kicking off the World’s Biggest Mouse Party from then through 2019. I’m sure the 2019 opening of the Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando will also play into this celebration as well. Follow the link to learn more.

Fitting in with an earlier rumor we were told, the new attractions coming to Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge are both supposed to be utter knock-out attractions in their own way. The story at the time was that Disney Imagineers were pulling out all the stops to really plus these experiences up to be like nothing else we've seen before. Even if it means that might have lower capacity than you might think, which could be a problem given how big the lines are expected to be.
Much like how Universal Orlando opened Diagon Alley a few years ago, it is already expected that you may have to have some kind of pass just to get INTO to Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge land at all. But those attraction lines? The lastest rumors claim almost everyone is going to end up waiting in them, as the two attraction may not open with FastPass at all, but instead may only accept the pay-to-play MaxPass system instead.

Special thanks to RollerCoasterPro who sent in a few pictures of the Orlando StarFlyer construction site taken on Monday as the rider carriage has been lowered into place on the lower tower unit, clearing the way for the rest of the tower pieces to be put on top. Follow the link to find the rest posted to their Facebook page.
If past experience is anything to go by, I'd expect to see the rest of the Orlando StarFlyer's tower go up very quickly at this point, with the crews capping it off before you know it if the weather behaves, all in time to open it this May.

Europa Park has confirmed another new attraction is on the way for the 2018 season, this one themed to a local popular IP. The small kiddie train ride (sorry, the name escapes me) just behind the Euro-Tower is being rethemed as Jim Button: Journey Through Morrowland. The story, inspired by Michael Ende's children's story characters will feature Jim and Luke the Engine Driver when it opens on March 24. The ride features eight small train themed vehicles, each holding four riders, that will be able to billow steam and feature bells than the riders can ring along the 3-minute journey. The timing works out well too, as a live-action 'Jim Button and Luke the Engine Driver' film is being released in Germany at the same time.

I missed this little detail, but in the new concept artwork for Walt Disney Studios Paris, if you look at where Toy Story Land is, you will be a new building has been added that is identical looking to the new Alien Swirling Saucers attraction going into Toy Story Land in Florida. Looks like a clone may be in the plans for Paris.

Need a quick virtual fix of your favorite Disney park? Disney and Google have announced that they have added complete 360º Google Street View coverage to Google Maps of 11 Disney theme parks across the world.
The list includes the Disneyland and California Adventure in California (along with Downtown Disney), all four of the major Walt Disney World parks, plus Typhoon Lagoon, Blizzard Beach and Disney Springs, and both Disneyland Paris Resort parks with full park pathway coverage. The Hong Kong, Shanghai and two Tokyo parks however are only represented through the use of 360º PhotoSphere images.
As for the “11” parks… I’m really not sure where that number is coming from as there are currently 12 full-scale Disney parks in the world, only 8 with the full Street View treatment, and if you count the two WDW waterparks, that makes 10… so either I’m missing the 11th one, or Google just wasn’t working for me while I was trying to check them all out.

According to Screamscape sources the new coaster coming to Dollywood in 2019 will actually be a new Vekoma Family Suspended coaster, featuring the latest in Vekoma's train and comfy restraint designs. As for the layout itself, I'm told it will actually be a clone, or near clone of Orkanen (Farup Sommerland, Denmark). Orkanen is known for having a unique custom layout that flies out over the water and even has an underwater dive element through a tunnel, so I'm guessing a Dollywood version could offer a unique terrain-run style, over and through whatever theming they choose to populate the new expansion area with.

According to Forbes, part of that $2.4 billion giant investment announced for the Disneyland Paris resort will include an overhaul of the resort's Disney Village dining / retail complex. While the exact nature of the renonations have yet to be locked in, the article does cover some speculation about some likely candidates.
Disney has now revealed that it is also giving a sprinkle of pixie dust to its 44,000-square-meter Disney Village, the largest entertainment center in greater Paris.
“We have renewed a number of attractions in the parks, so the next step will be to renew the Disney Village,” says Francis Borezée, Euro Disney’s vice president of resort and real estate development.
The huge complex next to the parks was designed by renowned architect Frank Gehry and has an industrial style, which was popular when it opened in the 1990s. It is packed with shops, restaurants and even a rodeo. It could get even bigger.
“We will start with the renovation, but then we have an opportunity to expand where today we have tents which are used for business events,” says Borezée. “If we do that we could develop a new convention center.”
Given that the rodeo has been there since Day 1, it is hard to imagine it staying in a renovation, so one suggestion would be to switch it for a show based on a renowned Disney brand.
