Orlando Weekly has posted an interesting story about Epcot's former Wonder of Life pavilion structure. According to the article the building's roof was inspected and cleaned, front and back, and Disney's Parks & Resorts Chairman, Bob Chapek was spotted on site taking a tour of the building with a large group of other Disney execs. Meanwhile, it was also revealed that the Pavilion would NOT be used for the Flower & Gardens Festival... which was really about the only time the closed pavilion was used at all any more.
So the golden dome was cleaned outside... and probably cleaned head to toe inside as well ahead of the big-wig tour from Chapek & Friends... but not being put to use in the only remaining fashion it is ever used anymore since it closed as an attraction. Hmmm... something smells fishy and according to Orlando Weekly, it all may have something to do with the runaway success of Marvel's latest movie... Black Panther.
Apparently there is only one small graphic up at Universal's Islands of Adventure that features Black Panthers' head amongst a group of other Marvel heroes, but otherwise Universal does not use the character at all. The thought is that Disney could try to use Black Panther theme in Epcot in some kind of new attraction, and reopen the Wonders of Live pavilion under a slightly new theme... but have the fictional country of Wakanda serve as the "sponsor" for the new technology pavilion. Thing of it as a Stark Expo like exhibit, featuring the wonders of Wakandan technology developed through the use of Vibranium. If they include a ride, it doesn't necessarily even need to be all about Black Panther... it could be something more like a "Soarin' over Wakanda".
The idea is kind of out there, but I like it, and it would fit in well into Epcot's new vision with it being placed right next to the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy themed coaster replacing the Universe of Energy attraction. The question isn't just if Disney is willing to go for it, but also if Universal is willing to let it fly. With a Black Panther sequel already in development to hit theaters in 2021, Disney would have to be willing to fast track this attraction ASAP.
The article goes on to say that new negotiations between Disney and Universal regarding character use could be taking place, but elsewhere Screamscape has also heard that Disney may be willing to just try to push the issue as far as they can, and if it leads to a legal issue between the studios, Disney's lawyers think that the outcome of courtroom drama may be worth it, as it would likely lead to new negotiations that would hammer out new terms of the deal that both parties can live with going forward.
Otherwise, I’d be more than okay with the idea of opening a new version of Body Wars with good old Wade Wilson (aka: Deadpool) as your pilot. How cool would that be?!

The other of Britains new rollercoasters Icon has now been testing at BlackPool Pleasure Beach, its looks awesome, heres the video from Theme Park WorldWide:
On Monday 12th March 2018 Blackpool Pleasure Beach began testing the LSM launch on ICON. This meant over 25 dispatches of the train towards the top hat element of the ride. Each time the train would return back down the top hat and stop gradually on the LSM launch. This is a standard procedure when testing launch coasters and is a method used on this time of roller coaster around the world. You'll also notice how the front of the train is also missing in this video, yet again this is standard procedure when testing this type of roller coaster. At around 2:30pm on Tuesday March 13th ICON completed it's first full test run of the circuit. In this video we share footage of ICON making it's way around the circuit including footage of the Inclined loop, Zero-G Roll, Immelmann loop and various other sections of the ride. During the first day of testing ICON completed 2 full circuits with the train stopping on the second LSM launch for around 15 minutes each time. We look forward to sharing more testing footage from ICON here on Theme Park Worldwide very soon.

Another update from the Icon rollercoaster at Blackpool Pleasure Beach
Back in September 2016 Blackpool Pleasure Beach announced that they were going to build a brand new roller coaster manufactured by Mack Rides. In this series of videos we'll be following the build of Icon with numerous updates from the site at Blackpool Pleasure Beach. As work begins on the landscaping around the ride, we take a look at the construction that has took place since our last visit. We also share footage of the cladding that is now going into place on the station building and much more from the ICON site. Icon will reach heights of 88.5ft with drops of up to 82ft. It will interact 15 times with five other Blackpool Pleasure Beach rides including the iconic Big One, Steeplechase, Big Dipper, Pleasure Beach Express and the Grand Prix.

March 12th, 2018, 22:25 Posted By: wraggster
While a lot of the focus on Dollywood right now is aimed at their 5-acre 2019 expansion (follow this link to see brand new information about that) some other interesting news was passed my way this week. According to the latest rumors, Dollywood may be considering plans to attempt to keep the park open year-round within the next couple years. As it is right now, Dollywood is almost open year-round, only closing down from early January to mid-March, which is pretty much the coldest time of the year for the area, and a time when tourism falls off at most of the area businesses in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, with things picking up once again in March... just when Dollywood reopens.
The question here to be solved may be similar to the, "Which came first, the Chicken or the Egg?" question. Does tourism in the area fade during this time just because Dollywood is closed, or would the tourists continue to visit if Dollywood were to remain open? We may just find out the answer to that question before too long, so stay tuned.
