Disney’s EVP, Digital & Global Chief Technology Officer, Tilak Mandadi, has posted a fascinating article on LinkedIn this week in regards to a virtual IAAPA presentation. The topic was how “Physical + Digital” experiences are going to be a driving force for present and future guest experiences with Disney Parks. This includes new digital methods of staying in touch and engaging with Disney fans through new digital content during the COVID-19 pandemic, enhanced virtual queue technology used for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, the ability at Walt Disney World Resorts to skip the front desk for digital check-in experiences and more.
Looking to the future they want to create a new connected experience, a “Theme Park Metaverse”, that will “transcend the physical and digital barrier” to allow for the possibility of adding new layers of storytelling and interactivity with guests through the use of digital technology both inside and outside of the theme parks.

The ECC posted a great aerial view of Vekoma’s new “Top Gun” model coaster set up at the Fantawild Jiangxi park in China. According to the original plans this will be the biggest of three coasters in the park, with the other two being a Vekoma Family Boomerang and a small Wacky Worm style coaster. The plan was to open the park in 2020, but it has not yet opened and after all the chaos of 2020, I’m sure the timeline may still be a little fluid.
According to RCDB, the Fantawild chain of parks has actually bought four of these Top Gun model coasters, with a second one that was also supposed to open in 2020 at Fantawild Ningbo (a second gate next to the original park in Ningbo) and the other two versions are slated to open in 2022 at new Fantawild parks in Kunming and Huai’an.

Join us as we head to Pleasurewood Hills in Lowestoft, Suffolk to checkout their Pleasurewood Chills Halloween event for 2020
We really enjoyed this event last year and had to come back again after the park took a last minute decision to go ahead with it due to Covid restrictions, the park is decorated with 100’s of Pumpkins and has 2 of the scariest scare mazes you will ever find in the UK
The event as a whole package is great for the family to enjoy as the mazes are separated meaning you don’t have to do them and are priced at £5 for both of them, there is also some other activities plus the Train of Tiny Terrors
We had an awesome day and with the park being quiet we got on plenty of rides all day, definitely a Halloween event not to be missed, sadly no firework display this year due to social distancing restrictions

Join me as I head to the Alton Towers Resort for the first day of their November gardens only days! To allow locals to exercise in a large open space, Alton Towers have reopened their grounds with the gardens open Friday - Sunday until 29th November 2020. This also allows us to see the preparations taking place across the resort for their Christmas event! In this video I check out the decorations that are in place so far across Towers Street, Mutiny Bay and the Alton Towers Gardens. This includes a first look at the set up for Garden Lights Walk: Twinkling Stars and the new Garden Lantern Trail.
The Alton Towers Resort is planning to re-open with their Christmas event in early December, when the lockdown in England comes to an end. Let's hope that the resort can go ahead with their Christmas opening, as things are looking even better than previous years!
